ALSA will operate its first transportation service in France.

Madrid, September 2, 2019. - The Spanish passenger transport company ALSA has been awarded its first bus transport service in France, and from December 15th will operate two cross-border routes in the Pays de Gex region (Ain department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region).

These are two cross-border services connecting the Pays de Gex and the Swiss cities of Coppet and Nyon, both on the shores of Lake Geneva. Specifically, they consist of the redesign of the existing line 814, and the creation of a new line, the 818, which adds to the previous one to improve mobility options in the area. Until now, this service was operated by the Swiss public company TPN in consortium with the French public company Régie Départementale des Transports de l'Ain.

ALSA will allocate to this new contract, which has a duration of four years, a fleet of six latest-generation Mercedes-Benz hybrid buses, which guarantee minimum levels of polluting emissions. A turnover of more than 5.5 million euros is expected during the contract period.

For ALSA, this first service that it operates in the neighboring country means improving its positioning in the French market in anticipation of future tenders, while expanding and diversifying its activity in Switzerland, where it is already present in the urban transport of Geneva - operating two TPG lines - in addition to alpine, school, tourist and discretionary transport services.
