ALSA joins the "One Million Pledges for the Climate" initiative.
Madrid, November 16.- The road passenger transport company ALSA has joined the initiative "One million commitments for the climate", promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, which seeks to raise awareness among companies, entities and citizens about climate change.
With its adherence to the campaign, ALSA reinforces its commitment to sustainable mobility as a differential value of its activity, committing to continue working in the environmental field and developing responsible policies with the environment, such as the reduction of the carbon footprint and fuel consumption, the implementation of an energy certification system according to standard 50.001, and the development of the CLIMA Project within the framework of the Carbon Fund for a Sustainable Economy, among others.
The campaign "One million commitments for the climate" aims to present the commitment of all individual and collective actions achieved at the next United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21), which will take place in December in Paris, and thus show, with the symbolic figure of one million, the impact that everyday behaviors have on the emission of GHGs, avoiding the worst ecological, economic and social impacts of climate change.
For years, ALSA has been carrying out different initiatives and programs, defined in its Environmental Plan, aimed at reducing energy consumption and emissions, which it complements with others, among which are the training courses in eco-efficient driving that it teaches to its staff and the incorporation of vehicles with clean technologies, such as hybrid buses.
In its effort to design sustainable transport systems based on the implementation of more efficient and ecological technologies, ALSA has achieved that 100% of its activity (maintenance and passenger transport) is certified according to the ISO 14001 standard, as well as the reduction of 1.5% of fuel consumption. Thanks to this, it has become the first passenger transport company to obtain the ISO 14064 Carbon Footprint certificate.
