Buses with connection to Geneva Airport

Public transport connections

Astorga Bus Station is a strategic hub in the province of León, especially for travelers on the Vía de la Plata and the Camino de Santiago. Located just a few minutes' walk from the Gaudí Palace and the Cathedral, it offers simple and direct connectivity to the historic center and the Maragatería regions.

Mobility and proximity

Urban and Local Bus

Given the walkable scale of Astorga, the station allows access to the main points of interest on foot. However, it offers local connection services:

  • Municipal Service: Connects the peripheral neighborhoods with the city center and the bus station area.
  • Regional Routes: Transport lines that link Astorga with nearby towns such as Castrillo de los Polvazares or the Cepeda area.

Rail Connection:

The Astorga Train Station is approximately a 15-minute walk away. It offers Media Distancia and Alvia services connecting to León, Ponferrada, Madrid, and Galicia, facilitating intermodal transfers for travelers.

Recommended App: To get around the province, we suggest checking the transport information of the Junta de Castilla y León or regional mobility platforms to plan journeys between municipalities.

Airport connections

Astorga primarily uses the provincial airport for its air connections, with quick access by road:

  • León Airport (LEN): This is the closest option, located about 45 km away. It can be reached by bus with a transfer at the León station or by taxi (approx. 30-35 min via the AP-71).
  • Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD): Many travelers choose the direct Alsa service to Madrid (South Station or Airport T4) for their international flights.
  • Taxi: There is an official taxi rank right at the entrance of the bus terminal for local transfers or trips to the train station.

Car rental

Astorga is an ideal base for exploring the Maragatería and the Montes de León, so there are car rental options available in the area.

Available companies

  • Local offices: There are car and van rental agencies operating in the town center and near the N-VI access roads.
  • Nearby points: The city of León (30 min away) hosts the largest range of international operators such as Hertz, Avis, and Europcar.

Mobility Tip: If you are a pilgrim and need a support car or luggage transport, check the terminal for specific services for the Camino de Santiago operating from this point.
