Public transport connections
Lugo Bus Station is the main road communications hub in the province. Strategically located next to the emblematic Roman Wall (World Heritage Site), it allows travelers to access the historic center on foot in a few minutes, offering total connectivity with the rest of Galicia and the center of the peninsula.
Urban bus and mobility
Lugo Urban Buses (Transporte Urbano de Lugo)
The terminal is integrated into the local network with stops located outside the station (Rúa da Estación and Praza da Constitución):
- Lines 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4: Connect the station with the city center and the main residential neighborhoods.
- Lines 3 and 4: Provide access to the Lugo University Campus and the Lucus Augusti University Hospital (HULA).
Railway Connection:
Lugo Train Station is approximately a 10-15 minute walk away. It offers Media Distancia services and connections that link with the high-speed axis in Ourense, facilitating intermodal transport for long-distance travel.
Recommended App: We advise using the Lugo Bus app to check arrival times, line maps, and urban service alerts in real-time.
Airport connections
Lugo relies on the main Galician airports for its air connections, accessible via road transport:
- Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport (SCQ): This is the most used option. There are direct bus services operated by regional companies and Alsa that connect the city with the airport.
- A Coruña Airport (LCG): Accessible by bus with a transfer at A Coruña station or by private vehicle (approx. 1 hour via the A-6).
- Taxi: The station has a permanent official taxi rank right at the main façade, operating 24 hours a day.
Car rental
Lugo is the ideal starting point for touring the Ribeira Sacra or the Mariña Lucense, so car rental offers are accessible from around the terminal area.
Available companies
- Station surroundings: You will find agency offices such as Avis and Europcar located near the train station and in the commercial hub near the bus station.
- Local services: There are several van and passenger car rental companies in the Avenida de Madrid area.
Mobility tip: If you are going to visit the Las Catedrales Beach, we recommend booking your car in advance, as demand in high season is very high throughout the province.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lugo Station
The station closes at 01:30 AM, so you cannot wait inside after that time. If your bus leaves very early (e.g., 05:00 AM), the outside area has surveillance and there is a 24-hour taxi rank right at the main entrance for safe late-night transfers.
The terminal is organized into two levels: the upper lobby is for ticket sales and the shopping area, while the lower lobby focuses on dining services and access to the bus platforms.
In addition to the charging towers in the waiting area, if you travel on an Alsa Supra or Confort class bus, you will have USB connectors or individual sockets at your own seat throughout the journey.
Yes, both are allowed in the bus trunk. For electric scooters, in 2026 it is mandatory to have a circulation certificate and an identification label. Like bicycles, they must be folded or packed and the corresponding supplement must be paid when buying the ticket.
Alsa allows the transport of sports equipment for a supplement (approx. €5-€10 depending on the route). You must check it in as special luggage, it must be packed (in a specific bag or box), and you must be at the platform 15 minutes before departure to place it in the trunk.
If you lost it at the station, go to the Information Point. If the item was left on the bus, you must contact the transport company directly. Unclaimed items after 4 weeks are sent to the municipal Lost and Found Office.
You must request the assistance service (PRM) at least 48 hours in advance through the website or phone of the company you are traveling with. The station has elevators and ramps connecting both levels to facilitate your access to the platforms.
You should check the digital screens located on both levels of the terminal. Platforms are usually divided by companies or destinations: the lower lobby gives direct access to the bay area, where each door indicates the platform number.
