Madrid South Station (Estación Sur), located in Méndez Álvaro, is the terminal with the highest traffic volume in Spain. The "Méndez Álvaro" Metro station is integrated into the same complex and offers access to one of the most strategic lines:

Line 6 (Circular): Connects directly with key nodes such as Atocha Station, Nuevos Ministerios, Moncloa, and Avenida de América.

Urban Bus (EMT):

Outside the station (Calle de Méndez Álvaro and Calle del Retama) are the stops for various lines connecting with the historic center and peripheral neighborhoods:

Line 102: Connects the station with Atocha and the El Pozo neighborhood.
Line 152: Service linking Méndez Álvaro with the Felipe II (Goya) area.
Lines 113 and 148 : Facilitate access to the Ciudad Lineal districts and Plaza de Callao respectively.

Connection with the airport

Transferring to Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) from the South Station is fast thanks to the direct rail connection:

Commuter Train (Line C-1): This is the most convenient option. It directly connects Méndez Álvaro with Airport Terminal T4 in approximately 25 minutes.
Metro (Line 6 + Line 8): Take the L6 to Nuevos Ministerios and transfer there to the L8, which stops at all terminals (T1-T2-T3 and T4).
Taxi: There is a large official taxi rank on the main access floor, operational 24 hours a day.

As a major transport hub, South Station has a wide range of car rental options for travelers wishing to continue their journey privately.

Inside the station: You will find Avis, Budget, Europcar, and Enterprise counters located on the commercial floor.
Station surroundings: Various local agencies and parking for "carsharing" services (Zity, Share Now) operate around Calle de la Retama.
