Its strategic location allows for a perfect intermodal connection with the city's Roman heritage, local beaches, and the region's main tourist centers.

Urban and regional buses

EMT Tarragona and Bus Plana

The station is the epicenter of the urban and intercity transport network, where the main lines connecting the entire metropolitan area converge:

  • EMT Tarragona: Practically all urban lines pass through Plaza Imperial Tarraco, connecting with El Serrallo, the Part Alta, and the eastern and western neighborhoods.
  • Bus Plana: The most frequent service to reach Reus, Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca, and the PortAventura World complex.

Train (Rodalies and Medium Distance):

Although Tarragona train station is located in the lower part of the city, the connection from the bus terminal is quick:

  • Tarragona Station: Located about a 15-minute walk away or connected via several EMT lines (such as L22 or L41).
  • AVE Shuttle Bus: Specific buses connect the Imperial Tarraco station with the High-Speed station (Camp de Tarragona), located about 10 km from the city.

Recommended App: Download the EMT Tarragona App or check the ATM Camp de Tarragona to manage your routes and use the unique transport card.

Connection to the airport

Tarragona has a direct and regular connection to the two main reference airports:

  • Reus Airport (REU): Direct service operated by Bus Plana. Estimated time: 20-30 minutes.
  • Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN): Regular direct service (Bus Plana/Alsa) reaching terminals T1 and T2 in approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Taxi: Permanent official rank right in front of the station at Plaza Imperial Tarraco.

Car rental

Tarragona is the ideal starting point for exploring the Priorat region or visiting the coves of the Costa Daurada. Rental offices are concentrated just a few meters away.

Available companies

  • At Plaza de la Imperial Tarraco and surroundings: You will find offices for Hertz, Avis, Europcar, and Enterprise within a few meters of the terminal.
  • At the Train Station: Other local and international operators serve the railway station area (Part Baixa).
