Travel conditions based on age

  • Children aged 0 to 11 inclusive: must always travel accompanied by a responsible adult on all journeys.
  • Children aged 12 and 13 (national journeys): exceptionally, they may travel alone only if they have an Authorization Document validated by Alsa (see procedure below).
  • Young passengers under 16 (international journeys): for travel outside Spain, all minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Authorization for children aged 12 and 13 traveling alone

By requesting this authorization for national journeys, the following conditions are accepted:

  • The minor will travel under the full responsibility of the person issuing the document.
  • Service personnel are under no obligation to supervise the minor during the journey or at intermediate stops.
  • Alsa strongly recommends that the minor travels on direct services (without stops) and arrives at their destination no later than 22:00.

How to process the travel authorization

To ensure that the minor can board the bus, it is essential to complete these steps at least 48 hours prior to the travel departure time:

  • Online application. Select and complete the form that corresponds to your travel needs:
Request One-Off Authorization: for a single trip with specific outbound and/or return dates.
Request Temporary Authorization: for recurring trips over a specified period of time.
  • Validation: our Customer Service team will review the documentation and email you the authorization confirmation.
  • Boarding day: the responsible adult must accompany the minor to the bus. The minor must carry their ticket and the Authorization Document validated by Alsa (printed on paper or displayed directly on a mobile phone screen).

IMPORTANT: for security reasons, drivers will not permit any passenger aged 12 or 13 traveling alone to board without presenting the validated authorization, either in physical or digital format.
