Buses and routes from Bilbao Intermodal Station
Public transport connections
Bilbao Intermodal is the main traveler terminal in Biscay. Its modern underground design allows for an immediate connection to the heart of Bilbao and the rest of the Basque Country, establishing itself as one of the most advanced mobility centers in northern Spain.
Metro, Tram, and Local Trains
Metro Bilbao
The station is directly integrated with the "San Mamés" metro stop, facilitating access to the two main lines:
- Lines 1 and 2: Connect with the Casco Viejo (Old Town), the center (Abando/Moyua), and both banks of the estuary (Getxo and Barakaldo/Portugalete).
Tram and Renfe Cercanías
A few meters from the terminal exit are the accesses to other key systems:
- Tram (Euskotren): The "San Mamés" stop links the station with the Guggenheim Museum, the Euskalduna Palace, and the Old Town along a scenic route.
- Renfe Cercanías: Lines C1 and C2 offer fast journeys to the Port of Bilbao and the industrial and residential areas of Greater Bilbao.

Frequently Asked Questions about Bilbao Intermodal Station
The station closes at 01:30 AM, so you cannot wait inside after that time. If your bus leaves very early (e.g., 05:00 AM), the outside area has surveillance and there is a 24-hour taxi rank right at the main entrance for safe late-night transfers.
The terminal is organized into two levels: the upper lobby is for ticket sales and the shopping area, while the lower lobby focuses on dining services and access to the bus platforms.
In addition to the charging towers in the waiting area, if you travel on an Alsa Supra or Confort class bus, you will have USB connectors or individual sockets at your own seat throughout the journey.
Yes, both are allowed in the bus trunk. For electric scooters, in 2026 it is mandatory to have a circulation certificate and an identification label. Like bicycles, they must be folded or packed and the corresponding supplement must be paid when buying the ticket.
Alsa allows the transport of sports equipment for a supplement (approx. €5-€10 depending on the route). You must check it in as special luggage, it must be packed (in a specific bag or box), and you must be at the platform 15 minutes before departure to place it in the trunk.
If you lost it at the station, go to the Information Point. If the item was left on the bus, you must contact the transport company directly. Unclaimed items after 4 weeks are sent to the municipal Lost and Found Office.
You must request the assistance service (PRM) at least 48 hours in advance through the website or phone of the company you are traveling with. The station has elevators and ramps connecting both levels to facilitate your access to the platforms.
You should check the digital screens located on both levels of the terminal. Platforms are usually divided by companies or destinations: the lower lobby gives direct access to the bay area, where each door indicates the platform number.
