What to see in Valladolid
Valladolid, known as Pucela to locals, is the capital of Castile and León, and still preserves several important historic buildings. La Colegiata, the Palace of los Condes de Urgel, and the Iglesia de la Antigua are just some of them. The busiest streets are Platerías, Juan Mambrilla, Plaza Ochavo, Francos and Avenida de Gijón, where visitors can enjoy a historical tour of the city.
The River Pisuerga passes through the Canal of Castile, offering an unparalleled view of a rich river landscape. Pristine parks and gardens fill the streets of Valladolid with colour; the Campo Grande is home to more than 90 plant species and over 30 species of birds. Other interesting parks include Parque de los Viveros and Parque Ribera de Castilla.
Valladolid produces excellent designation of origin wines with which to pair its traditional dishes and tapas. Curious visitors will enjoy a trip to the Provincial Museum of Wine where they will be given the chance to do some wine tasting, making the city an increasingly popular wine tourism destination.
