Travel to Madrid

Madrid has always been regarded as a welcoming and nice city with visitors. Thanks to its role as a great capital city, the cultural selection is wide and varied: a number of museums,  such as the Reina Sofía, offer a plethora of exhibitions catering all tastes and ages. Also, the most renowned bands perform year by year in Madrid, not missing out a single occasion to visit this city.

ALSA takes you to Madrid, where you will be able to choose which bus station you wish to go down: Estación Sur, Avenida de América or the bus bay at the Madrid-Barajas Airport.

By visiting the city, you will discover its most distinguised areas, such as the Salamanca quarter, where the Retiro Park is and a must, and also major shopping streets such as Serrano or the Paseo de la Castellana or monuments like the Cibeles fountain or the Puerta de Alcalá. The architecture of these places reminds us about Madrid's heritage as the capital of the Spanish Empire.

In Madrid's most traditional quarter, "Madrid of the Habsburg" or Madrid de los Austrias, you will find the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Oriente and Puerta del Sol. Also concentrating a great historical heritage, you will visit the Royal Theater, the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Fine Arts Academy of San Fernando.

La Latina and Lavapiés on the other hand are very popular for their large choice of typical bars where one can enjoy Madrid's exquisite cuisine and have a snack. Malasaña and Chueca are the foremost nightlife areas, as they witnessed "La Movida Madrileña" in the 1980s, a counter-cultural movement in which numerous artists flourished, giving this area a perfect atmosphere for the youth and the bohème, with lots of pubs and clubs where music is still at the spotlight.
