Traveldog’s pet transport Protocol

Traveldog only transports dogs, cats and ferrets.

Procedure

When making your reservation through the web or by telephone, give details of age, breed, weight and measurements.

Once the booking has been accepted, you will be sent a form with authorisation and acceptance of the Traveldog transport protocols.

Travel Requirements

The requirements for transporting a pet are:

  • It must be older than 3 months and 21 days. If it is younger, it cannot be transported.
  • It must have microchip identification, which must be legible. This will be read at the time of departure.
  • It must be vaccinated for rabies and up-to-date with all vaccinations required for its breed and aged, and with its health card or passport updated and in force.
  • It must be dewormed internally and externally.
  • Pregnant or nursing dogs or cats cannot travel.
  • Dogs and cats of all breeds can be transported provided that they are not aggressive. Traveldog reserves the right to apply that criteria.
  • Dogs and cats wearing warm clothing are not permitted, except in extreme weather conditions.
  • Before the trip begins, it should be walked for at least 30 minutes, having not eaten within the previous 8 hours.

Pet carriers and travel

  • Pets will travel in a Traveldog carrier or crate, not your own, and without any type of baggage. With only its health documentation and collar.
  • Traveldog will provide completely sanitised carriers, with single-use absorbent material appropriate for the measurements given. If at the time of departure your pet is dirty, does not respond to the measurements, weight and breed provided, or does not comply with the health requirements set out in this protocol, it will not be accepted, nor the amount for the booking returned
  • Cats will travel in carriers with a built-in litter box.
  • Pets will be walked on routes of over 8 hours in length and will be given water at stops.
  • At the arrival point, the person responsible for receiving the pet must be there to identify him or herself and sign that the pet has been received in good condition.
  • If after 10 minutes of arrival at the arranged point, the owner or person responsible for receiving the pet is not there, the pet will continue its journey until the end of the route at the next Traveldog point of assistance or will return to its town of departure. From that moment, the collection at the new address and all expenses incurred will be assumed by the owner or person responsible. If three days have passed and nobody has made contact for collecting the animal, the appropriate authorities will be notified.
  • Additional stops will be made in case of adverse weather conditions or traffic jams to rest and not place pets at risk.
  • Departure times are fixed but arrival times can undergo serious delays. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND. The families will be directly informed of any delay in excess of 60 minutes.

To be taken into account

If your pet suffers from any disability or chronic NON-INFECTIOUS ailment such as epilepsy, heart condition, blindness or deafness, this should be indicated when making the reservation and also provide information to the technician performing the service on how to care for it.

In the case of any emergency, the nearest veterinary centre will be consulted. Any expense involved for this will be assumed by the owner.

Pets and their owners must be at the place indicated 20 minutes before departure.

In any event, Traveldog takes no responsibility for the state of health or the death of any pet due to natural causes.

Traveldog’s clients are the pets: If any of them require veterinary care during the journey, this will take priority over the estimated arrival time.

Our objective

For pets to have a good trip, that their travel meets all the requirements involved, and they can be reunited with the family as soon as possible so they can enjoy each other’s company in any part of the world to where they travel.
