Regional transport

ALSA's commitment to the mobility requirements of its customers extends to the management of local and regional coach transport services, which is at the heart of its activities.

ALSA's regional services network includes numerous intercity service concessions throughout the regions of Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Castile-Leon, La Rioja, Madrid, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia, Aragon, Navarre, Valencia, Murcia, and Andalusia

Many of these services are carried out in rural areas with low-density populations and which are difficult to access, thus providing a public service that ensures mobility and access to quality transport for all citizens, regardless of where they live.

ALSA also plays an important role in the area of work and school transport.

Additionally, faced with the consolidation of new metropolitan areas, it also participates, in line with the regulating bodies, in the development of Regional Transport Consortia, which provide specific mobility solutions to these areas.

Urban and metropolitan transport

ALSA is the largest private bus operator in Spain.

It specialises in the design of urban and regional transport systems, managing a total of 20 networks in different cities and metropolitan areas in Spain, as well as the cities of Marrakesh, Agadir, and Tangier (Morocco).

The new ways of urban living, which bring greater mobility requirements, demand efficient, high-quality public transport in order to solve the problem of congestion in our cities and to make them more inhabitable for everybody.

ALSA also provides solutions tailored to local authorities, placing special emphasis on:

  • Technological innovation (SAE, contact-free payment systems).
  • Respect for the environment.
  • Public transport accessibility.

This approach seeks to conceptualise urban transport in a way that results in solutions for cities and benefits for citizens in terms of quality of life.

Furthermore, ALSA manages the tourist bus services in the cities of: Madrid, Toledo, San Sebastián, Barcelona, and Marrakesh.

Rail transport

In the area of rail transport, ALSA's "ALSA Rail" program is part of the company's initial steps towards operating railway activities which also include the designing of tram and light rail projects, conventional and automatic metros, and peri-urban and commuter railways.

As an operator, it is involved in the management of the Pinar de Chamartín-Sanchinarro-Las Tablas (ML1) light rail line which, integrated within the Madrid metro network, connects this new urban development in the north of Madrid to the metro network.

It also manages the Bulnes Funicular Railway, a transport system which solves the problem of access to Picos de Europa National Park (Asturias) whilst at the same time protecting the Environment.
