ALSA celebrates the Eco Driving Challenge final.

Madrid, March 9th. - Yesterday, the final of the first edition of the Eco Driving Challenge league was held at the Jarama RACE Circuit. This competition, organized by ALSA, involved 26 bus drivers from the different regions where the company operates and was sponsored by Setra, Mercedes, Continental, Repsol, and Voith.

The participants in this final have been selected after a previous three-month phase, in which the drivers of the different ALSA operations that have consumption and emission measurement systems on board participated. These systems offer information and parameters about the type of driving that each driver carries out and how it affects efficiency. In this way, the 26 best-rated drivers and those who managed to improve the most during the league are the ones who passed to the final.

The winners of this first edition of the Eco Driving Challenge have been José Luís Somohano, from Valencia; Ildefonso Prieto, from Almería; Roberto Raimundez, from Ponferrada; and Francisco Javier Espina, from Avilés.

Eco Driving Challenge

ALSA's commitment to the environment, supported by a continuous training effort in efficient driving for its team of drivers, was demonstrated in this competition, which aims to reward professionals with the best results in efficient driving, fuel savings and emission reduction.

The Eco Driving Challenge 2017 consisted of two tests: the first consisted of completing two laps of the Jarama circuit, in which the participants obtained a score based on driving style, prioritizing a conservative, smooth and efficient style. The second consisted of maneuvers, with zig-zag, parking and braking tests, with the drivers who achieved the best scores in the tests being rewarded.

With initiatives such as the Eco Driving Challenge league, ALSA continues to bet on the training of the best professionals in the sector, not only in terms of improving safety skills, customer service and driving skills, but also in terms of efficient and environmentally responsible driving.
