Alsa presents its Safe Mobility Plan to MITMA to resume bus travel

Madrid, June 26, 2020. - Mobility operator Alsa has presented the Safe Mobility Plan to the land transport authorities of MITMA. This plan has been implemented in the national concessions dependent on the Ministry operated by the company, which restarted this week following the end of the state of alarm and mobility restrictions.

The presentation took place at the Madrid-Barajas Airport bus interchange, and was attended by María José Rallo, Secretary General of Transport and Mobility, and Mercedes Gómez, General Director of Land Transport, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. Francisco Iglesias, CEO, and Víctor López, General Director, attended on behalf of Alsa.

Alsa's Safe Mobility Plan aims to offer travelers maximum confidence when traveling by bus and thus restore normality in the mobility of Spaniards as a key factor in the economic recovery of the country. It contemplates a set of measures and protocols designed to turn the bus into a safe space to travel, mitigate the risks derived from Covid-19 and offer maximum hygienic-sanitary guarantees to travelers, before, during and after their trip.

These include the installation of bioactive carbon filters, thanks to which the air inside the vehicle is permanently renewed, eliminating 99% of the particles; air purification equipment through ozonation and ionization, which destroy bacteria and viruses; and the reinforcement of the cleaning and disinfection processes of the fleet that are carried out daily with new nebulization methods with broad-spectrum disinfectants.

SAFE MOBILITY CERTIFIED BY AENOR

The correct implementation of all these security protocols has been audited by AENOR, who has granted Alsa its Certificate of Good Practices against Covid-19, which is an additional guarantee for travelers.

For the design and implementation of this Safe Mobility Plan, the company has followed the rules and recommendations of the health, labor and transport authorities, as well as the best and most innovative practices observed in other sectors, both nationally and internationally, in order to offer maximum protection guarantees to travelers and employees, and regain their confidence in the bus as a safe space to travel.

This presentation to MITMA has been carried out coinciding with the restart this week of the long-distance services of national scope that Alsa operates between the different autonomous communities and that connect to about 600 destinations throughout the country. The company has programmed a gradual restart of its national services over the next few weeks, as the demand for travel increases and citizens' mobility habits return to normal levels.
