The road passenger transport company ALSA presented its new Premium service last Friday, July 8 in Gijón, which, starting on Monday, July 11, will begin operating on the Gijón - Oviedo - Santander - Bilbao - San Sebastián - Irún and Gijón - Santander - Bilbao - Logroño – Zaragoza routes.

ALSA registers the launch of this new product within its philosophy of constant improvement, continuous search for innovation and offering differentiated quality services to its customers. Faced with the rise of low cost products, ALSA Premium is committed to a concept of exclusivity and luxury for those looking for a top quality service on their bus trips.

ALSA is committed to incorporating the Premium service to these lines because the distance between the connected cities is optimal to appreciate its advantages and because Gijón is an ideal market to appreciate the added value that this product brings.

The development of ALSA Premium began in 2011 and various departments of the company have collaborated in it to define the attributes of the new product, both in the concept of the on-board service and the vehicle, based on various surveys and focus groups that were carried out with the most frequent travelers. The result is this pioneering service in the road passenger transport sector that was presented this morning in the Plaza del Marqués, in Gijón.

THE PREMIUM EXPERIENCE

Living the Premium experience begins before getting on the bus, continues during the trip and continues upon arrival at the destination.

Before starting the trip, ALSA offers Premium customers a specific telephone service through 902 42 22 42, where they can buy their tickets and any additional services they need. Upon arrival at the station, travelers will enjoy the exclusive lounges - in Oviedo and Bilbao - where ALSA staff will collect and transfer their luggage directly to the bus, without them having to worry about it until they reach their destination, as it offers personalized treatment throughout the journey.

Once on board, you will immediately perceive a new and careful interior design, mainly thanks to the ample space at your disposal, since the new Premium bus offers only 36 seats, arranged in rows of one and two seats.

You will be surprised when you settle into your spacious business-type seat, which is the main element of comfort in this vehicle. Made of high-quality leather and with an ergonomic and enveloping design, with a backrest of 77 centimeters and a separation between seats of 81 centimeters, this innovative high-performance seat manages to offer each passenger the maximum personal space at their disposal.

INDIVIDUAL ENTERTAINMENT

Another of the new features of the Premium service is that each seat is equipped with an individual 7” touch screen in which travelers can select from a wide range of on-demand entertainment. In addition to video games, you will have access to a new on-board entertainment system, which is also something completely new in bus transport.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to dedicate part of the journey to working, checking your email or finalizing your next presentation, ALSA Premium offers you WiFi Internet access with ample bandwidth, as well as a 220V power outlet and 5V USB port in each seat.

And all this while enjoying the careful free catering, with vegetarian and celiac options upon prior reservation.

FOR THE LITTLE ONES

A service designed with the level of detail of Premium could not forget the little ones in the house. For ALSA, they are also important and therefore offers a free babysitting service for children over 4 years of age who are traveling alone. For them, the vehicle has three-point seat belts adjustable in height, which adapt perfectly to the child's height.

And for children under 3 years of age, we have an approved seat, as well as seats with an Isofix system, which guarantees the support of the seat or carrycot with maximum safety. And so as not to forget any detail, they even have bottle warmers.

SAFETY, ACCESSIBILITY AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The new Premium bus is a Mercedes-Benz OC500 and Susundegui bodywork of its new SC 7 model, and represents an investment of close to €500,000 per unit.

As is standard in the ALSA fleet, it has the latest advances in active and passive safety and driving assistance systems, such as ASR (Anti-Slip Traction System) and ESP (Stability System) systems.

It has bi-LED headlights that provide greater visibility and safety when driving, is built with fireproof and self-extinguishing materials and has a smoke alarm and fire extinguishing system in the engine.

Regarding accessibility, people with reduced mobility (PRM) or of advanced age will have special assistance when they request it. The bus has a space for PRM and a lifting platform for PRM access in a wheelchair. The spacious bathroom and sink are located at the same level as the floor (raised bathroom), which allows easy access.

Regarding the environment, it is equipped with an eco-efficient engine that guarantees low consumption and complies with the EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) standard, which improves the emission values ​​of the Euro V Standard and allows the use of biodiesel in any percentage, up to 100%.
