Alsa and Grupo Transvia win contract to operate bus routes in the Lisbon metropolitan area

Madrid, October 26, 2020. - Mobility operator Alsa, in partnership with Grupo Transvia, has been provisionally awarded the tender called by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) for the operation of bus routes in the southeastern area of the Portuguese capital's metropolitan area.

 

The new contract has a duration of seven years, plus two possible extensions, and will represent a turnover of 185 million euros in the first seven years. It will be carried out with 237 vehicles with Euro VI and hybrid technology, which will have the latest security and comfort systems on board, such as wifi, alcolock system and CCTV, among others, and which will operate more than 100 lines.

The contract will directly employ about 350 people and its start is scheduled for the last quarter of 2021. The southeast area of ​​the Lisbon metropolitan area groups six municipalities, including Setúbal, which together have a population of more than 315,000 people.

Also, Alsa is very well positioned to win the award of another contract in the metropolitan area of ​​Porto that, if confirmed, would make it the only Spanish operator with a presence in the two largest cities in Portugal.

The award of this contract in Lisbon is a new success for the Spanish company that, despite the crisis, maintains its firm strategy of implementation in international markets and growth in the urban transport segment, after having obtained the award of lines in the Geneva Public Transport (Switzerland), the urban transport contracts of Rabat and Casablanca (Morocco), and the cross-border lines between Switzerland and France.
