Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat provisionally awards the operation of the Tren dels Llacs tourist train to ALSA.

The contract signed between FGC and ALSA includes the operation of a total of 18 circulations from June 1, with the extension of the operation throughout the year 2020 being considered. ALSA will provide duly qualified driving personnel, as well as operations personnel to ensure proper rail traffic.
The historic Tren dels Llacs runs along the right side of the Segre River from Lleida to La Pobla de Segur on a single track on a flat route until reaching the first mountains of Sant Llorenç de Montgai and Camarasa. Afterwards, the train runs through the Noguera Pallaresa river basin, which will accompany it, between reservoirs and mountain ranges such as Montsec, to La Pobla de Segur, the last stop.
Until reaching its destination, the Tren dels Llacs will have passed through a total of 41 tunnels and 31 bridges in the 89 kilometers of track, which is a unique experience for nature lovers and railway history enthusiasts.
NEW MILESTONE
The operation of this tourist train represents a new milestone for ALSA, which has a License and Safety Certificate for the operation of Passenger Trains granted by the State Railway Safety Agency (AESF) and, since 2018, its own Railway Training Center approved by the AESF.
For ALSA, this new contract represents the second tourist train - whose operation has been liberalized in our country since 2017 - operated by the company after the start of the operation of the Tren de Felipe II between Madrid and El Escorial in 2017, and a further step in its vocation to be a multimodal mobility operator.
