ALSA employees donate 14 tons of food to Food Banks
Madrid, January 27th - Employees of the road passenger transport company ALSA have collected and delivered 14 tons of food to the Food Banks, as a result of the "Kilos y Kilómetros" solidarity campaign, organized by the company and in which its more than 6,000 employees throughout Spain have participated.
This solidarity initiative is carried out for the second consecutive year and this time it had the novelty that ALSA travelers could also participate, since when buying their ticket online, customers could donate 50 cents. Thanks to these contributions, two tons of food have been donated.
On the other hand, throughout the month of December, 40 collection points were installed in the main work centers that the company has throughout the Spanish geography, in which ALSA employees were depositing non-perishable food, to later donate to the Food Banks.
Likewise, the company donated one kilo of food for each Christmas basket that was delivered to employees, which amounted to more than 5 tons of food.
DELIVERIES IN 14 TERRITORIAL HEADQUARTERS
During these days, the delivery of the food collected in the territorial headquarters of the Food Banks of Madrid, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, León, Salamanca, Burgos, Barcelona, Valencia, Almería, Murcia, Granada, Málaga and Pamplona has been carried out.
The "Kilos y Kilómetros" campaign is the result of the collaboration agreement signed between ALSA and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), and relates the company's main activity to the amount of food collected. This initiative is part of the corporate responsibility actions that ALSA develops in favor of the Community.
The Food Banks are non-profit associations based on volunteering and whose objective is to recover food surpluses from our society and redistribute them among people in need, through officially recognized social aid organizations, avoiding any waste or misuse. In Spain, 55 Food Banks are integrated into the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), which in turn is a member of the European Federation of Food Banks.
