Renfe and Alsa launch a combined high-speed train and bus ticket for travel between Spain and southern Portugal.

Madrid, April 4, 2017. Renfe and ALSA have created a combined AVE (high-speed train) and bus ticket for travel between Spain and southern Portugal, as part of an agreement signed to promote intermodality and the operability of their commercial routes. Tickets are now available for purchase on renfe.com.

The combined ticket allows the use of both transport services with a connection at the Sevilla-Santa Justa station, offering guaranteed schedules and connections, fixed prices, and a single ticket from origin to destination.

It starts with three round-trip services on AVE Madrid-Sevilla, with bus transfer to the Algarve, and it is planned to add two more in the summer period, up to a total of five services. And another two round-trip services on AVE Barcelona-Sevilla, with bus to Portugal.

TAVIRA, FARO or PORTIMAO

Travelers can choose between the following destinations in the Portuguese Algarve: Vila Real de San Antonio, Tavira, Faro, Faro Airport, Albufeira, Portimao or Lagos. When purchasing tickets, travelers only have to select the chosen destination, followed by the word 'BUS' in the purchase options on the website.

Renfe and ALSA already renewed earlier this year other of their train+bus agreements to Andorra, Vielha, Javea, Denia, Roquetas de Mar or Aguadulce and Benidorm, from Madrid and/or Barcelona.

With the creation of this new combined ticket between Spain and Portugal, both operators extend their intermodal train+bus offer to other holiday destinations.
