Buses and routes from Santander Station

Public transport connections

Santander Bus Station is the neuralgic center of transport in Cantabria. Located in the heart of the city, opposite the train stations (Renfe and Feve), it offers perfect intermodality for traveling both around the capital and throughout the Cantabrian Coast.

Train and urban bus

Railway Connection (Renfe and Cercanías AM)

Crossing the Plaza de las Estaciones, less than a 1-minute walk away, you will find the train terminals:

  • Cercanías: Direct connections with Torrelavega, Reinosa, Solares, and Liérganes.
  • Long Distance: Alvia trains with direct destination to Palencia, Valladolid, and Madrid.
  • Metric Gauge (Former Feve): Regional routes connecting Santander with Bilbao and Oviedo, running along the entire coast.

Urban Bus (TUS):

The Santander Urban Transport Service has main stops at the station door itself and in the adjacent Calle de las Estaciones:

  • Lines 1, 2, 3, and 4: Connect the station with the city center (City Hall), the Puertochico area, and the beaches of El Sardinero.
  • Line 13: Links the terminal with the Cueto area and the University of Cantabria campus.
  • Night Lines (Night Bus) : Available on weekends to facilitate the return from leisure areas.

Recommended App: To optimize your waiting times, we suggest downloading the official TUS Santander App or checking the Transporte de Cantabria website to manage your contactless card.

Connection with the airport

Seve Ballesteros-Santander Airport (SDR) is located in Camargo, a few kilometers from the city, with a very effective direct connection:

  • Airport Line (Alsa): Direct service departing from inside the bus station. Estimated time: 15 minutes. Frequency: Every 30 minutes.
  • Taxi: Official stand outside the terminal. The journey is short and fast, ideal for groups or bulky luggage.

Car rental

Thanks to its centralized location, Santander offers a wide range of car rental options right upon arrival at the terminal.

Available companies

  • At the Train Station (opposite buses): You will find offices for Avis, Europcar, Hertz, and Enterprise a few meters from the exit.
  • At Santander Airport: Features a hub with companies like OK Mobility, Goldcar, and top-tier international agencies.

Mobility tip: If you are visiting the Cabárceno Nature Park, there are regular lines departing from the station, although a rental car is the most flexible option for this excursion.
