If you’re thinking of doing the Way of St. James and don’t know how to reach the town where you want to begin the journey, Alsa will take you! By bus is the ideal way of getting to the Way of St. James because there is a wide choice bus times, because it reaches many places, and because you travel safely and in comfort.

It doesn’t matter which route you take - and there are lots to choose from: the French Way, Primitive Way, the Portuguese Way, the Northern Way, the Silver Route, the Muxia-Finisterre Way… Alsa takes you to many towns along the Camino:

Do the Way of St. James by bike!

If you among those who prefer to do the Way of St. James by bike, with Alsa you can travel together.

Add the bike to your ticket by ticking the box provided in step 2 of the purchasing process, with a 5 euro supplement on top of the ticket price on short routes, and a 10 euro supplement on long distance trips. (Tickets for transport with bicycles have to be purchased individually. It’s not possible to tick this box if you have selected 2 or more seats).

Remember to show up for boarding at least 15 minutes before departure time and with your bike in the best condition for travelling so it will not cause any damage to other items of luggage or packages, and it must be packed in some kind of bike transport box or bag.

IMPORTANT: due to limited available space, you are allowed a maximum of four items (bicycles or surf-boards) per bus (one per ticket). The box for ticking travel with a bicycle will not show if there is no space left for the travel time selected.

For international services, bicycle transportation is only permitted for travelling between Spain and Morocco, or Spain and Portugal, before having made your reservation and payment.

When you complete your pilgrimage, buy your return ticket from any Alsa point of sales in Santiago de Compostela or from the Centro Internacional de acogida del peregrino (International Pilgrim Welcome Centre, in Rúa das Carretas, 33 Bajo - Santiago de Compostela), where you can obtain timetable information so you can choose the one that suits you best.
